Spring is only a few weeks away and the beauty world is already abuzz with talk about the new spring hair color trends that you’ll soon see popping up everywhere. We’re loving the bright vibrant colors and chose our favorites here for you to use for hair color ideas to inspire your new spring look.
Sandy Blonde- There seems to be a theme among most of the emerging trends for spring 2023 and that is deeper hair color. This is true of this neutral sandy blonde. It’s a slightly darker and more blended shade of blonde hair color that looks great with most skin tones. Not quite ready to give up your bright blonde? A face-framing balayage hair color will add plenty of dimensions and then a cool hair toner will blend it for a bright beige effect.
Gemini Hair Color- The latest trend blowing up social feeds everywhere is a two-toned color that’s being referred to as Gemini hair with one side of the head one color, and the other side a different color. This can go one of two ways- either you choose contrasting hair dye or complementary shades. Either way, it’s a striking look that is sure to turn heads.
Saddle Brown- This is a pretty neutral shade similar to mushroom brown, but without more sandy undertones than gray. Light-haired gals can test drive saddle brown before committing, by asking your stylist for a color gloss that will provide demi-permanent hair color for about 4-6 weeks. It deepens your color but is much easier to reverse than permanent hair color if you decide you want your lighter strands back.
Champagne Blonde- This color could be described as light golden blond with ultra-subtle hints of rose. This color comes alive with a mix of smudged roots, hair highlights, lowlights, and a golden somewhat beigy hair gloss to pull everything together. This will be ridiculously popular for the spring and summer seasons this year.
Chunky highlights- This color trend is a flashback to the early 2000s, but the chunky highlights of 2023 will be a little more blended making them easy to wear and maintain. You’ll also be seeing these chunky streaks in bold bright colors, especially on those with light hair. If you just want to have a little fun you can play around with this trend with some funky temporary hair color.
Butterscotch Blonde- We didn’t think any hair color could be sweeter than honey, but this creamy golden blonde just might be! Shadow roots make this color seem brighter as well as make it lower maintenance. It’s a great color to smoothly transition from a cool winter blonde to a warmer spring shade.
Brownie Hair Color- Of all the brunette hair colors trending for spring this is probably the most delicious. A rich chocolate brown with a whole head of smooth caramel highlights and contrasting lowlights- what’s not to love?
Onyx- The grunge and goth aesthetics are super popular at the moment and right at the heart of these looks is jet-black hair. Gorgeous onyx strands are the essence of these dark vibes. But this color doesn’t have to be solid black. You can spice things up with crimson red, midnight blue, or royal purple money piece highlights. One fun trick is to go with a white money piece and then change up the color with temporary hair dye to match your mood or outfit.
Cool Brunette- Many brunettes will be abandoning warmth this season for cool-toned shades. Dark browns with no trace of red or gold will reign supreme for brunettes this spring. The trick to keep this color from falling flat is to keep it super healthy and enhance your shine with a gloss treatment.
Rusty Copper- The bright copper trend that has been going strong for a while now is slowly being replaced with a more earthy rusty copper. This beautiful red hair color will brighten anyone’s mood after a long, dreary winter, and it’s more grounded making it compatible with a wider range of skin tones.
Soft Tangerine- If you’d like a red hair color that commands attention, this bright orangey shade is perfect for you. This bold color has soft muted golden undertones that tone down the harshness for a bright pastel that is perfect for spring.
Sun-kissed Gold- It just isn’t spring without sunny golden blondes with all of their rich and buttery warmth. Say goodbye to ashen blondes this season. It’s all sun-kissed days ahead. Try it as an ombre hair color with darker roots and gold-tipped ends for a more low-maintenance blonde with a major wow factor.
At-Home Color Maintenance
Now that you have your perfect spring hair color, you want to hold onto it until you’re ready to change it, right? Follow these tips to prevent your color from fading.
Shampoo less. Condition often. Every time you shampoo you wash away a tiny bit of pigment, and if done too often it will dry out your strands leaving your color dull. Cut back to one or two shampoos per week and condition every time to keep your strand strands hydrated, soft, and vibrant. Using our professionally recommended hair care like Redken Color Extend Shampoo and Conditioner will protect your color even more.
Turn down the temp. Cool water keeps your cuticle smooth and closed locking color in, whereas hot water opens the cuticle allowing pigment to escape. To take cooler showers.
Deep condition weekly. Using Pureology Color Fanatic Multi-Tasking Deep-Conditioning Mask every week is a great way to repair damage and ensure a healthy shine that makes your color appear brighter.
Minimize heat styling. Heat damage hair dye pigments, so allow your hair to air dry and use no heat styling whenever you can. And use Kerastase Nectar Thermique Blow Dry Primer before blow drying to protect your strands.
